ABOUT

WellPlayed is distinct from typical game groups in that we ask attendees to make two commitments. First, we schedule around availability, so after agreement is reached (barring emergencies), attend the full session. Second, come prepared by knowing the basics of how to play the planned games.

This approach provides each member the privilege of selecting a game and knowing it will get played. Selections can be from another attendee’s library, and you can request the owner to bring a game that you’d like to play. See links below for available options.

Game weight (i.e., duration due to complexity) is constrained by available time. For a Game Night the selection could be a medium (playable in 2 hours) followed by a medium-light game.

For a twelve-hour game day, attendees typically select a primary and secondary game of medium weight. Attendees can also bring additional games that are short and light that may be played as fillers.

PREP

If a game is of medium or heavier weight, then players prepare beforehand (typically watching a tutorial video). This lets us maximize offerings, optimize our time, and get immediately to the fun.

  • Players only need to understand the basics. Rule clarification questions are still expected during gameplay. Prior familiarity ramps up player comprehension as they reexperience the rules in context.

  • If the setup is significant, factions and other choices can be selected in advance.

  • Expansions, variants, and player-counts can be leveraged to ease AP or duration as necessary.

  • The owner is traditionally first in turn order to demonstrate flow if the other players are new to the game.

VENUE

  • Venue is mostly Dalton and occasionally Canton or Chattanooga

  • It’s a clean, family-friendly, and casual vibe

  • If you need more details, check out the FAQ or reach out with your questions if they’re not covered there.
