Easter Yard Sign
Easter is an incredibly special day for Susie and I, even more than Christmas. We look forward to the beautiful songs celebrating Resurrection Sunday, the dogwoods that inevitably bloom about this time, and the new life that springtime brings as it reflects the completion of Jesus’ plan and salvation when He rose from the dead. More than any other seasonal celebration, we wanted to decorate our home to reflect this joyous remembrance.
One of the locations we adorn is a wrought iron stand in the garden by our front door. We’ve adapted it to hang seasonally themed welcome signs. But our pursuits have proven fruitless when it came to finding a suitable Easter-themed sign that celebrates the resurrection. So, I decide to make one and capture the project steps as it developed.
The stand looks best when the sign fits within the circular frame of the stand. So, I purchased a prefabricated wooden oval and a flat laser-cut wooden photo frame to use as decorative trim.
I contemplated finishing the piece in the typical fashion—with Annie Sloan Chalk Paint Clear Wax. If the sign were to hang on or near the front door where it’d be protected from the rain by eaves or porch roof, then I’d probably done that. But since it would be fully exposed amongst the shrubbery, I opted for more protective coating.
